More Testimonials for Physical Solutions and Cathy Busby

From a Parents of a Basketball and Volleyball Player

Our daughter sustained a collar-bone injury playing basketball and re-injured this area during volleyball practice. After several appointments with our insurance-contracted provider we saw no improvement, and in fact our daughter was starting to lose her range of motion. We decided after consulting with Physical Solutions to go out of network and seek treatment with Cathy Busby. The system of care that Physical Solutions provides far exceeded our expectations. Our daughter was taught exercises, and received pictures which detailed the ones she needed to do at home. Our daughter returned to play stronger and was knowledgeable of what she needed to do to keep from re-injury.

We would describe Physical Solutions' system of care as a total package, and high quality. We are confident in their staff's ability to treat the whole person and have recommended them to our friends. — Anita and Michael Crutcher

From a Volleyball Player and Swimmer

A year-and-a-half ago, I was experiencing discomfort with my shoulders while being active in volleyball and swimming. I felt grinding and slipping. My shoulder actually came out of the socket! I came to Cathy Busby's practice, Physical Solutions, to get help playing the sports I love.

It was a very beneficial experience. I started with small weights after Cathy assessed my problem. Over time, I increased weight and added new exercises. I was motivated to stay with it because I had great results. I still lift weights now to add power to my game. My shoulders no longer slip and I am one of the strongest players on my team. Thanks, Cathy! — Clarke

From a Parent of a Soccer Player

We were so fortunate that you were recommended to us by another athlete's Mom. My fourteen-year-old daughter Emily had pars fractures on both sides of her L-5. She was in pain, unable to bend, kick, or run in her sport of soccer. She was a captain of her club team and known as having the strongest leg on the team, taking all of the kicks.

After a few months of therapy with you in the fall of 2006, Emily tried out for the N.C. Olympic Development Team. She made the team, one of 36 players out of a group of 125! Perhaps more impressive, she tried out for Broughton High School's varsity, always one of the top-ranked teams in the country, and was one of the only five freshmen to make the varsity roster of 26 players! Her strong kick leg is back and although she has had several hard collisions on the field, she hasn't had any more pain or problems with her back! Thank you for tailoring a plan of treatment that worked perfectly for Emily and her injury!Ron Frederick

Great class for getting in shape! — Everett McCord

I had lots of fun. It was a great way to stay in shape and build up muscles that weren't strong. — Ryan McCord

From a Soccer Player

The most meaningful and beneficial aspects of my treatment have been being able to be a better athlete. Without my exercises, I wouldn't be able to play soccer like I do today. I also enjoy doing the exercises and knowing that I am becoming a stronger athlete. — Emily

From a Triathlete

Cathy knows and understands an athlete's mind and body. She has helped me return to training and an active life on several occasions. Whether it was a hip, back or knee, she always provided quick, long-term recovery solutions. — Greg Sanchez

From a Tennis Player (USTA4.0) and Racquetball Player (A-minus)

Cathy Busby is the best physical therapist I have encountered. She is professional, competent, highly knowledgeable and skilled, and she is dedicated to the work she does. During our sessions, she demonstrated a thorough knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology (structure and function) of the shoulder.

Cathy carefully planned and conducted the physical activities I needed to regain full use of my shoulder, and she explained to me the purpose and importance of these activities. She sensed when I was discouraged and provided the encouragement and incentives I needed to keep working. Throughout my rehabilitation, she exhibited an excellent balance of firmness, compassion, and encouragement, depending on my needs.

Thanks to Cathy's knowledge and skill and the hard work we did together, my shoulder has fully recovered, and I am again participating in all the physical activities I enjoy. In October, 2001, less than a year after my surgery, I won third place in the State in my age category in the North Carolina senior games racquetball tournament. Also, in response to Cathy's advice and encouragement, I am working out consistently (in addition to my competitive activities) to build upper body strength to reduce the probability of future injuries.

It is amazing, but true, that at age 61, I am physically stronger than I have ever been. In my opinion, Cathy is the best! — Wade Ponder

From a Yoga Enthusiast and Gardener

In a letter to Cathy Busby:

After four months of pain and avoidance of activities like lifting suitcases or participating in yoga classes or gardening, I'm now able to resume my life. I now have no pain at all.

I especially appreciate the approach you followed in teaching me exercises that would strengthen my shoulder muscles so that I would not have future problems. And I appreciate the positive, caring, and inspiring attitude you showed in talking with me and instructing me during physical therapy. Your use of all of the available healing tools - exercises, massage, and appropriate medical treatments - rather than total reliance on pain medication truly gave me back my life. — Nancy Adams, Ph.D., Acting Assistant Lab Director

From an Outdoor Enthusiast

As an active person, I have had several other injuries, all of which have been successfully treated by Cathy. The latest was a year and a half ago when I injured my right foot while walking barefoot on a rocky platform in the St. Lawrence River hauling large rocks near the shore to land. Going barefoot was not wise — I was a lot more concerned about protecting my back, which did not bother me a bit by this heavy lifting.

For almost a year I stubbornly assumed that any day the discomfort would end. Finally I went to Cathy's practice. One simple flexing exercise was recommended. We knew that it would take time; I am happy to say that I now have mobility and comfort in this foot at a level which surpasses the flexibility and ease of movement I had before this occurrence in the St. Lawrence. — Barney Rickenbacker

From a Fitness Walker and Swimmer

I long ago came to place great faith in her expertise and judgment. Her years of experience make her an invaluable consultant; there appears to be almost nothing she hasn't seen or doesn't know how to deal with.

The good results I've had working with her have only strengthened my belief in the role exercise plays in physical and mental well-being. Cathy keeps you as mobile as possible and functioning as close to normal as possible while you're making your way back from injury or illness.

The psychological aspect should not be underestimated. Sometimes a physical problem can leave you despairing 'is this the way I'm going to have to live?' and leave you feeling that your life has become unduly circumscribed. Learning to cope mentally is as necessary as physically, and Cathy has the understanding and patience to see you through, and at the same time can provide the hope that fuels your recovery. — Houston Paschal, Curator
